Many clients come to coaching seeking quick fixes to stress, burnout, or life challenges.
I get it—there are endless to-do lists, limited energy, and competing priorities. Time never enough! They’re trying to conserve what little energy they have, hoping for something that will just make things easier.
Yet, deep down, many recognize that quick fixes don’t really fix much; they do not create lasting transformation. Many have tried. Or have planned to try. But with so much going on, they haven’t found the time. Meanwhile, the problems seem to grow, making everything feel heavier.
As a professional coach, I believe in something far more sustainable: trusting in your ability to cultivate strong personal skills. Self-awareness. Discipline. Patience. Hope. These are what create real, lasting transformation—not just another temporary band-aid.
Self-Agency Begins with Awareness
Self-agency starts with noticing—really noticing—where you are and what you want to move toward. Not just solving problems, but shifting how you think, feel, and act.
We all have inner goals, even if we can’t fully articulate them. But here’s where many of us get stuck: we believe we can only achieve our goals once we’ve “fixed” everything first. So we focus on problems, looking at them from every possible angle, hoping to crack the code.
We pour in time, energy, sometimes even money—yet often, we still feel stuck.
A Different Way Forward
Albert Einstein once said, “No problem can be solved by the same consciousness that created it.”
What if, instead of just problems-focused, you turned your attention to what you truly desire? What if you got curious about what’s already working in your life and built on that?
Practical Reflection Questions
To start shifting your mindself, ask yourself:
What’s already working well for me?
What’ strengths or habits worth continuing?
What have I learned about myself along the way?
If these feel difficult to answer, try this: If someone close to you noticed you’ve made a positive change, what would they see?
Mindset Shifts Create Real Change
What we say to ourselves shape our reality. When you shift your focus from problems to solutions, you begin to act as the expert of your own life—the expert you’ve always needed. A solution-oriented mindset allows you to:
Get curious about what’s possible if your desired outcome were to happen.
Identify the small (but important) steps you’ve already taken toward your goals.
Investigate what you truly need, who can support you, and how you can expand your network of resources.
The hardest part is always the first step. But once you take it—whether stepping out or stepping up—you will notice a shift. It may be small, or it may be life-changing. Either way, it will be different from staying stuck.
